1..What is the difference between Arizona United and Scottsdale United?

Arizona United is a local lacrosse program that is open to all players from around the Valley. The league focuses on introducing the game to new players and improving the skills of experienced players of athletes from 6-14yrs old. Arizona United administers its own practices and games locally in Scottsdale.

Scottsdale United are teams that play in the Az youth lacrosse league. We enter teams at 10U, 12U, and 14U during the winter season which runs Jan-Mar. These teams travel within the state to play games on Saturdays against teams from other clubs like Tucson, Chandler, Gilbert, Glendale, Cave Creek, North Valley, Arrowhead, Tempe, and Ahwatukee. The players on these teams must come from Scottsdale boundaries set by the league. The boundaries are SUSD school district north of Lincoln dr. You must live in (address of home) or go to a school (private, charter, or public) within this footprint to be eligible to play on these teams.

2. My son plays for a different club during the Az Youth lacrosse season. Is he able to play in this league if we don’t live in Scottsdale?

Absolutely. The AYL requires teams in that league to be within certain boundaries. Our league is for EVERYONE! Our goal is to help all players improve and we believe after playing in a United league, your player will return to his club as a much better lacrosse player!

3. Can my son be on the same team as his friend?

Coaches divide teams to create competitive balance. Competitive balance forces kids to work harder to improve. Sometimes your son will be placed on a team with a friend and sometimes he will play against his friend. You might find that your son plays harder when his buddy is on the other team!

4. My son has never played before, so is your league the best place to start?

100%! All new players are entered into the development division to be pared with other new players. Your player will be learning along with other new players. We always have new players at every age level.

WHy do you use tennis balls?

D1 Programs use tennis balls as part of their training. Tennis balls are harder to catch, throw, and shoot. They offer a challenge. They also help develop soft hands which is a pillar to a successful lacrosse player.
